Horace Mann Charity Golf Classic raises $49,000 for local charities

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (Nov. 21, 2019) – Two charities will share the proceeds from the 2019 Horace Mann Charity Golf Classic: Springfield Public Schools Foundation (SPSF) and the Central Illinois Foodbank.

Horace Mann President and CEO Marita Zuraitis presented Springfield Public Schools Foundation (SPSF) President Beth Moore with a $24,500 check. Zuraitis presented the remaining $24,500 in proceeds to Pam Molitoris, Executive Director of the Central Illinois Foodbank.

“These two organizations directly impact educators. The Foundation through teacher grants and supporting education in the classroom, and the Foodbank with healthy foods for students, helping them be more focused on learning.” said Zuraitis.

The SPSF funds will be used for classroom technology. “The Foundation continues to find different ways to help make a difference for Springfield educators,” said Moore. “It’s support from companies like Horace Mann that allows us to offer our educators various grants to impact learning.”

“We feel very blessed to have a community partner like Horace Mann that understands the importance of providing students healthy foods,” said Molitoris. “This donation will help us continue to grow our Kids Healthy Distribution Program, providing students with nutritious food to take home each week.”

“Horace Mann, the Springfield Public Schools Foundation and the Central Illinois Foodbank are great examples of how community partnerships make an impact for our educators and our students,” said Springfield Public Schools Superintendent Jennifer Gill. “It truly does take all of us to help grow our future leaders.”
