Premium Credit FAQs

As part of our Teacher Appreciation Giveback Program, we are offering a premium credit to eligible auto insurance customers.

Why am I receiving a premium credit?
We are crediting customers with 15% of two months of auto premiums, subject to regulatory approval, because driving has declined as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

How much is the premium credit?
The credit is 15% of 2 months of premiums for eligible auto insurance customers, subject to regulatory approval.

Who will receive a credit?
All active auto customers with a policy in-force at any time during the months of March and April will receive a premium credit to their policy.

How and when will I receive my credit?
The premium credit will be applied automatically to your policy at renewal. Credit will be applied to renewals beginning with effective dates of mid-to-late July, depending on your state’s regulatory approval. No action is required on your part.

Will I receive a credit on all my policies?
You will receive a premium credit on any eligible auto insurance policy with Horace Mann.

Do I need to do anything to receive my credit?
No. There is no action required to receive this credit.

Can I receive a refund instead of a credit?
We will credit policies at renewal. If we’ve already offered you renewal, we will send an amended renewal.

What happens if I have made changes to my policy during this time period that affected my premium?
We will account for any policy change and recalculate your premium. You will receive an updated Declarations page and billing statement upon completion of the policy change.
