With a new school year in full swing, you’re hopefully settling in to your “new normal.” Whether you’re teaching in a physically distant or remote learning environment, one thing is for sure: You will do anything to ensure your students have a great school year. We can't thank you enough for all you’re doing to navigate this challenging school year and support your students.

To support you however we can, we thought we’d share some words of encouragement and advice. Edutopia asked educators from around the country to share a piece of advice for teachers who are transitioning to an online classroom for the first time. We highlighted some of our favorites below, and you can read the full article here.

  • Be prepared and encourage, love and support your kids. Always be positive, and together the learning will happen.
  • Don’t try to do all the things – focus on a few solid activities and lessons and give opportunities for discussion and questions. Less is more.
  • Don’t be afraid to try new things, and don’t expect everything to go perfectly. Allow students to see your learning process.
  • Have a plan B for online lessons and a plan C for technical issues.

And for a little boost of encouragement, check out these well-deserved shout-outs we found on social media.

  • First of all, teachers, you need a raise, a trophy, an award ... all of it. Because you are truly amazing. Parents have been thrown into this by chance. You do this every day BY CHOICE. I can barely handle four kids! You do so many more! I don't know how. I applaud you. It really takes a special type of person. Please don't be discouraged!
  • Dear teachers and educators: I know it doesn't make up for all of the uncertainty right now, but thank you for everything you do. Truly. We are rooting for you.
  • Thank you, teachers! You’re doing some amazing stuff, and I know it’s exhausting. We appreciate you!
  • Thank you to all the teachers and aides, because without you, parents would be lost right now!

We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it a thousand times over, thank you for all that you do and have a great school year!
