Horace Mann flash funds more than 50 DonorsChoose.org projects in its ‘Day of Donations’ for National Teacher Day

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (May 6, 2014) – Horace Mann flash funded $25,000 in DonorsChoose.org projects today as part of its “Day of Donations” celebrating National Teacher Day.  Fifty-one teachers either had their projects completed or brought closer to completion thanks to the donations. 

“Some teachers received $1,000 towards their project while others received a smaller donation that fully funded their project,” says Vice President of Integrated Communications Dawn Klintworth. “Projects included books for classroom libraries, exercise balls, tablets, notebook computers and more.” 

Horace Mann partnered with DonorsChoose.org in 2011 and has donated more than $2 million to the organization which helps connect teachers with donors.  Horace Mann agents have helped fund projects and have also gone into classrooms to teach educators how to post projects on DonorsChoose.org. 

Horace Mann’s Teach It Forward giveaway

Each day during Teacher Appreciation Week, Horace Mann will randomly select an educator who entered their Teach It Forward giveaway to receive a gift valued at $500 – and that educator will select another educator to surprise with a gift valued at $500, as well.  Details of the contest are on their Facebook page, and horacemann.com.
