Horace Mann names Hinkle Employee of the Year
In celebration, Horace Mann funds all DonorsChoose.org projects in Sangamon County.
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (March 10, 2016) – The Horace Mann Companies named Edward Hinkle of Springfield its 2015 Employee of the Year Thursday. In celebration, the company completed funding on 15 DonorsChoose.org projects in Sangamon County on #BestSchoolDay. Springfield, Riverton, Sangamon Valley, Tri-City, Ball-Chatham and New Berlin school districts all had projects completed.
“I see how dedicated all of our employees are to making sure we serve our educator customers well,” said Hinkle, who is a learning consultant for the company. “I take pride in teaching my coworkers about programs to assist our educators and helping make connections to our brand.”
Hinkle volunteers for Springfield’s Big Brothers, Big Sisters program. “Through this program, I’ve gotten to know the teachers at the school, the folks in the cafeteria, and I understand what they go through to educate our students. The neat piece is I’m able to transcend that information over to the classroom I teach in at Horace Mann.”
Assistant Vice President of Enterprise Learning Solutions, Jill Kilroy, said Hinkle is a great ambassador for the company. “Edward not only coaches our employees about the company’s success profiles and cultural expectations, but he also lives them,” said Kilroy. “He is extremely dedicated to this company, his fellow employees and our customers.”
President and CEO Marita Zuraitis presented the award to Hinkle in front of more than 1,000 employees at the company’s annual employee meeting Thursday.
Hinkle was selected for Horace Mann’s pinnacle award after being named the February 2015 Employee of the Month from among more than 1,300 non-agent employees. As Employee of the Year, Hinkle will represent Horace Mann at various community events throughout the year. He will also receive a trip-for-two to the company’s Leadership Conference in Vienna, Austria and a $2,500 debit card.
