Horace Mann names Pine Employee of the Year
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (March 13, 2017) –Horace Mann named Sherry Pine of Jacksonville its 2016 Employee of the Year last week. Horace Mann President and CEO Marita Zuraitis presented the award to Pine in front of more than 1,000 employees at the company’s annual employee meeting.
“Winning employee of the year has been the most humbling experience,” said Pine, a Benefits Specialist in the Life & Retirement division. “The prestigious role of representing this company and our customers is truly an adventure and the opportunity of a lifetime.”
Pine’s manager, Deona Kuntzman, says Pine strives to improve and grow with every opportunity. “Sherry is an individual who exemplifies the kind of person everyone would want on their team because of her work ethic and willingness to act, to learn and to grow,” said Kuntzman. “She is someone that willingly puts in the extra effort to exceed expectations and be successful. She is not happy with status quo and is driven to consistently produce great results.”
Pine was selected for Horace Mann’s pinnacle award after receiving the November 2016 Employee of the Month. As Employee of the Year, Pine will receive a trip for two to the company’s Agent Leadership Conference in Sydney, Australia, and $2,500. She will represent Horace Mann at various community events throughout the year.
Pine said she looks forward to being an ambassador for Horace Mann. “I love my job,” she said. “Everyone has been made for some particular work, and the desire for that work has been put in every heart. I enjoy helping people, the educators we serve, as well as my fellow employees.”
